Ways Your Support Helps
As a not-for-profit hospital, Kapiolani relies on our community to help us fulfill our mission. Our generous donors help the hospital continue providing exceptional medical care to Hawaii's women and children, including the critically ill, in four key areas:
Patient Care
Kapiolani's family-centered approach to health care puts patients and families at the center of the health care experience. This creates an environment in which women, children and their families can heal together, resulting in better outcomes.
Capital Improvements
Rapidly emerging technologies have fundamentally changed the care delivery process for patients. To continue to deliver the level and comfort that Hawaii’s families deserve, Kapiolani has embarked on a major renovation and rebuild of the hospital. Phase 1 will help Kapiolani reach the following goals:
- Create family-centered space to deliver family-centered care, a concept at the center of hospital rebuilds nationwide;
- Meet the critical care needs of Hawaii's keiki, as the Pacific region's sole tertiary referral center and Level III-B Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; and
- Ensure adequate educational conference rooms and spaces are available as Hawaii's pediatric teaching hospital.
Education and Research
Your support helps ensure the availability of Kapiolani's vital health education and community outreach programs, which can improve medical outcomes. Critical research in prenatal, neonatal and children's medicine, which leads to discovery of new and effective treatments, are also made possible through your support,
Uncompensated Care
As a mission-driven hospital, Kapiolani provides quality care to all who need it, regardless of their ability to pay. Kapiolani never turns a child away. Community support helps us carry out this worthy part of our mission.
